'We are working on NT drivers, as well as a new serial based IR device.
These are breadborded and a way off yet. Early next yr is best guess eta'

Yeah, I know that it has support in Homeseer, and so should work like a
charm...

BUT...

I had discounted it on account of the fact that my Homeseer PC is running
Win2K - Hence no possibility of using a Parallel port IR device, which
PC-Remote is. (Unless Concept are planning to write a parallel port device
driver for Win2K?)

However, after looking at the serial port only alternatives, which also are
directly supported by Homeseer, and seeing the price of them compared to
the
PC-Remote:
Ocelot: $120 (plus who-knows what by the time i've had it shipped?)
Slink-e: $240 (ditto)
Smartlinc PCIR: $??? (ditto)

I had asked Rich about adding support for the RedRat-2 which seemed as
though it would have been ideal for me, - UK sourced, serial port, good
looking spec, £70. But as I was the ONLY person who asked for it, it was
obviously not likely to be a priority...

I'm beginning to think that my best option is probably going to be to
"downgrade" my Homeseer PC to Win98 (or perhaps ME?). Another
reason for
doing this downgrade is the Homeseer Phone module, which again seems to be
extremely difficult under W2K due to the lack of TAPI voicemodem drivers...
Despite the obvious inferiority of the 9x platform compared to the 2K
platform, and my EXTREME reluctance to take this backwards step, I don't
think I'm going to have much choice..

- Not if I want to get all the phone stuff working, AND have a working IR
interface for less than £50 that is.... (£50 I can usually persuade SWMBO
to go along with...)
