They are common. They are called "2 port" valves and they open
when power is
supplied. They also have a microswitch that closes when the valve opens.

Care is needed to not shut all the valves when the pump is running. Modern
boilers overrun the pump to cool their core, so you need either logic to
keep
a zone open or a pressure sensitive bypass valve. I have the latter and a
zone
valve for each of three floors.
