Well, the site is still there just now (25th 15:11)
And the popup on the site now reads:

Due to the fantastic response we have encountered, our Christmas
delivery quota has now been filled.
Any applications made now shall be processed for an April/May delivery.
If you have applied for a Freebox and not yet had a reply from us -
please do not worry!! We have been inundated with applications and an
order acknowledgement will be with you very soon.
So, we might not be ripped off completely yet. or, perhaps, I am just
too hopeful... :)
