RE: Richer Sounds Remote Angel

As I mentioned here a few weeks ago I've got the Angel (not the M1, so
if what I say doesn't relate to the M1 then I apologise).  The Angel
doesn't quite cut it in my house.

1) The TV will not respond to the same button used twice in succession
so if you press 4 instead of 1, then 1 because you realised the mistake
(you're now on 41), you then cannot go directly to 1 but have to do
another channel first.  Try working Teletext!  No coloured buttons
either.

2) There just aren't enough buttons to enable the timer to be set on
the video.

3) It's run out of memory!  It's got TV, Video, DVD, CD, Amp, Analog
satellite and some X10 - that's when it ran out of memory.

4) I couldn't even begin to contemplate putting the digibox on it.

I've asked Father Christmas for a Pronto and SWMBO has asked me where
she might buy it, so things are looking up :-)

All the above is just my 2p's worth.  As Nigel says at 40 quid it is an
awful lot cheaper than a Pronto and will work most things, most of the
time.

instead of £70.  Not seen that price elsewhere (in their catalogues or
website), so it might be worth a look at a current copy of the magazine
if
anyone is interested in a cheap learning remote

It's _not_ a pronto, (fixed selection of icons, no PC interface, no
pre-learnt codes), but it's fast to use, much cheaper than pronto,
backlit
touchscreen, 8 screens for different equipment.  There are several
different 'icons' at each button position, so different screens look
appropriate to the equipment.  There's basic macro programming, no
timer
though.  I did a review at the start of the year, which is at

The only other remote used at home now is for the video, where the
remote
decodes the videoplus codes- for folk on a non-Pronto budget I'd
definitely
rate it as worth a look, though I still aspire to a Pronto one day!
It's
also battery friendly- I got mine last Christmas and, although the 'low
battery' indicator came on around January(!?!?), it's still running
fine on
it's first set of cells!

There are some other companies coming out with 'improved' versions,
selling
around the £70-£80 mark- better learning capacity etc etc
