Sorry to hear that your having problems, and I hope your fears are
unjustified.

A quick scout around the net I have found these links (mainly aimed at what
to do, and what to tell the police.) Hopefully they will help you in
selecting your equipment.

My only other advice would be not to confront them, ring the police and let
them handle the situation.
