Firewire is significantly more demanding than analogue a/v.  It's also
optimised for a particular type of cable, and uses the relative positions
of the cables to allow a bit more speed to be 'tweaked' out, with a fairly
short range (is it 10m between 'nodes'?).  Isn't firewire up to 400Mb/s?  I
think you'll have to wait for Gigabit Ethernet before someone can do a
reliable converter for it- sorry!

And if Keith's working on it as we speak, I'll eat my hat^H^H^H lunch.
