Hi Steve,
 
from the HH user guide.....
 
"L/S switch
 
For one or two devices plugged into highway box select S
 
When using extn wiring upto 150m in lenght select S
 
When using extn wiring between 150m and 800m in length select L"
 
So I guess the max is 800m. You must have a BIG house if you exceed that ;-)
