If you follow the threads on adslguide I think the conclusion is that
if you want ADSL with a fixed IP and no filtering/nat etc. USB option
then Nildram is your best choice at 58 (including VAT) a month. Those
with it installed have confirmed the fixed IP and being able to host
a web server.

The other USB providers either have a dynamic IP or NAT (or both of
course) or filtering that makes it less than ideal. BT OpenWorld is
NOT NAT but is not fixed IP so you would need some type of Dynamic
DNS service. Medasfish and Freeserve which are the same price as BT
are beleived to have either NAT or filtering.

This is only valid for the USB option. The non-USB option has a fixed
IP for the router and you get NAT'd behind it, however, a number of
the providers either have or will have a non-NAT version where both
the router and PCs behind it will have routable addresses at, of
course, increased prices.

How CRAP is this!! I can't believe it.

And here's me thinking that was exactly what you bought ADSL for.
This is
an incredible statement to make about an "always on" service.

I'm getting depressed about this whole thing now. Losing my FS
account,
ADSL (even if I could get it in y area sometime in the future) is
unworkable.

This is supposed to be progress?
