I don't properly know. I just remember reading something that made me
doubtful it would work.

Again, I don't remember, but I expect they block incoming connections to
port 80. You could probably use another port, unless they block all ports
and only open the basic ones they want you to use. Even if you do manage to
defeat it, you're then in breach of T&Cs and they can kick you off -
IIRC
they have done that to a beta tester (but again, don't quote me).

Other providers meaning Demon, Plus.Net, Clara.Net etc who are planning to
offer an ADSL service using BT's infrastructure. If I understand it
properly, BT install ADSL, but you connect via Demon rather than OpenWorld.
I could be wrong on this, but probably worth checking to see what other
ISPs
are offering in terms of costs and services before you tie yourself into a
contract with OpenWorld.

I couldn't convince SWMBO or myself that it was worth the extra cost. The
promised extra bandwith seems dubious depending on who you speak to, on
account of the contention ratio they're planning on using. Probably not a
problem in the short term, but once a few people in your area have signed
up...

HTH, and again, purely my only partialy informed opinion.

Ray Barnett.
