Following the links to Leviton offered yesterday I read the Wiring
Strategies Paper and for those who Have not read it I thought this might be
interesting, its about cabling system performance some of the figures were
much worse than I expected.

Replace 2ft CAT5 with 2 ft Cat 3          8.0 dB
Replace 2ft CAT5 with 20 ft Cat 3         13.0 dB
Coiled Cable in 6i Cicle 2" Dia x section No Change
Bundled and secured with ties (20Lbs)     No Change
Remove 1" of Sheath at station end        1.2dB
Remove 12" of Sheath at station end       2.0 dB
Untwist 0.5" at station end               1.5 dB
Untwist 2" at station end                 3.8 dB
Untwist 6" at station end                 11.6 dB
Bend cable around 3" Dia                  1.9 dB
Bend cable around 1" Dia                  2.1 dB
Kink cable                                2.4 dB
Cable in Aluminium conduit                  No Change
