If you
have registered on myip.org you will have a hostname and a
password.
Then
when you install the Dynamic DNS program, open the plugin.zip file and
extract
the myip.dns and myip.txt files to the directory you installed the program
too.
Next
run the dynamic DNS program, click on Options - Preferences, fill in your
email
address and if you run a LAN at home (if you don't Ignnore this bit) click
the
configure button to tell DynDNS which ip address is your local
LAN.
Next
click Options - Configure Services , Click the dropdown box and pick MYIP,
If
MYIP does not appear then you didn't extract the files from the plugin.zip
file
correctly.
Now
you put your hostname into the DNS name box and your password into the
(wait for
it...) password box, finally click the Active checkbox and then Save
Changes
Now on
the Dynamic DNS program you can click Refresh to Manually up IP, But from
now on
all you have to do is to put a shortcut to Dynamic DNS into your startup
folder,
It will then refresh your hostname ip everytime your PC connects to the Net
again.
Hope
that makes sense, any questions just ask away.
BTW
typed this while I was very tired, so there is probably lots of mistakes
:o)

Mark I would be grateful of your advice on
setting up the dynamic dns program along with the myip.org to collect my
btinternet dynamic ip address. For some reason I cannot get it to set up. I
also logged into www.dyndns.org as a
possible alternative.
Unfortunately I have been spending more time
lying down than on my pc at present, but hopefully soon I shall be able to
spend more on the pc.

I'm using Dynamic DNS from...
This little tool sits in your system tray.
Everytime you go online it points your chosen URL (in my case
otto.myip.org)
to your current IP. Look here too http://www.myip.org/dd/
It
is also really handy for things like Netmeeting, BuddyPhone etc as my mates
don't need to know your current IP to contact you. They just use
otto.myip.org.
M.
Thanks for your advice Mark. I have
downloaded the software and am pretty impressed.
You may be able to help with one question I
have regarding the dynamic ip addresses set by btinternet. How do I put a
link on my webpage to my home server.
Thanks
Campbell

I'm using this to automatically dial in to BT
when it's free.
M.
I have just
registered Homeseer.
Has anyone set up homeseer using their
btinternet connection. If so I would be grateful of advice on
setting it up.
