I have the following eqpt:
Philips OnDigital STB
Sony VCR
Sony RPTV
Pronto
(+ DVD player & DD amp)
The aerial firstly goes to OnDig, then VCR and finally TV. Scart from AV1
on TV to AV1 on OnDig, AV2 on OnDig to AV1 on VCR.
What I want to do is to be able to is to take the RF from OnDig, split it
and send it upstairs to the bedroom as well as the VCR.
I've already put surround speaker cabling into the sitting room walls, and
redecorated(!) so I really don't want to channel any more cables in
(besides, SWMBO would go ape). I'm thinking of RF because I can run coax
through the wall to outside and into the bedroom which is directly above,
and in the process of being decorated (read walls being chased, plugs being
put in etc.) so I don't mind burying cables here.
So far so good - getting RF into the bedroom is fairly easy - I get picture
+ sound from 1 cable that I can run outside to save my sitting room walls.
I'm assuming here that you can use a passive splitter rather than a signal
booster/amplifier... or am I wrong? Any suggestions?
What I also need is to receive IR in the bedroom, and send that downstairs
to OnDig. I know this would be SO easy if I had Sky Digital as you can buy
a widget that plugs in and send the IR down the coax for 30 odd quid and
get
a second remote thrown in.
Any ideas for a project that I can build to send IR down coax...? I'm
quite
happy with soldering etc. (not SMT though!), and I've seen some nice IR
receiver wall plates on automatedhome.co.uk courtesy of Keith Doxley that
inspire me.
