I had an appliance module that was faulty.  I didnt notice the fault until after I had modified it to remove local control. The fault with mine was that the plascic case had cracked where the fixing screw for the PCB screws into. This meant the board was not secure in the case and the code wheels did not make proper contact.

As I had invalidated my warranty by cutting a link on the PCB I fixed the problem by removing the metal wipers from the code wheels, soldered the tracks to hard code the module address and then hot glued the PCB in place. Module now works fine.

The cause of your failure may be something similar, or it could just be a bad contact on the code wheels. Turn both the dials round a few times and then see if it works. I know several people in the US have previously mentioned bad contacts on the code wheels.

Of course.... as it is still under warranty, the obvious thing to do is take it back. The *assistant* probably wont even know what it is for, let alone how to test it :-))

Hope that helps.

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has had problems with LM modules. I have one which will not respond to codes, I tried changing the fuse to no avail.

Is there anything I can look at/fix inside or should I just return it to Homebase (approx 9 months old) if I can find the receipt.

I also had a hardly used cm12 unit die on me recently which Homecontrol replaced.

Am I just unlucky..

thanks

Campbell
