I've looked at PCRemote before, but the big problem for me is that it
connects to the parallel port. That makes it a big no-no in an
NT4/Windows 2000 setup as it needs kernel mode drivers. Not something
that most developers are interested in supporting.

The IRMan connects to a serial port making software development a
relative doddle. I wrote some test software yesterday in VB in 10
minutes. It would take rather longer to develop a driver for a parallel
port device!
