Hi Graham,

I have seen Mark's reply but just in case you dont have an AV amp connected
and want it overlaid onto a bog standard TV there is another way.

MANY (but not all) TV's output the TV's tuner on the scart socket even if
if
there is an active signal fed into the scart and being displayed on the TV.
If you dont use your SCART socket for anything else you can do the
following....

Get a SCART plug and join the audio out's to the audio in's
Pin 1 to Pin 2
Pin 3 to Pin 6
Get a Stereo Phono lead and cut the plugs off one end.
Connect one lead to Pin 19 (Video Out)
Connect the other lead to Pin 20 (Video In)
The screens of the lead connect to Pin 17 (Video Ground)
You also need an additional wire from Pin 8 (Switching) to one of Port A's
output lines in HV
Use a 1K ohm resistor between HV +5V and the Port A line you chose.

The output port now has control of the SCART socket.
The TV's tuner will go into HV and back out to the TV
Normally you would be watching TV direct but when HV needs to display it
goes into Video Overlay mode and activates Pin 8 of the SCART. when
finished
it releases Pin 8 and the tuner goes back to what it was previously on.

Depending on the make of TV it might also work if you had a VCR playing on
a
different SCART.
eg

BEFORE	DURING	AFTER
Tuner AV1 Tuner
AV2 AV1 AV2

Although I think my one of my TV's does this
AV2 AV1 Tuner :-((

another one (Goldstar) disables the tuner output whilst the SCART is
active.

You could also use IR to switch the TV to SCART but you wouldnt know what
to
return to.
Grabbing Pin 8 of the SCART overcomes that problem.

Have a play....you have nothing to loose
PS. +5V might not be enough to switch all Tv's the actual spec is +12V

Hope that helps

Can anyone tell me if the video output from HomeVision can be overlaid onto
the existing video signal.
The reason being I want to be able to display the incoming Caller ID
information without loosing the current TV programme.

Many thanks
Graham Kiff
