It would actually be a good use of an appliance module.  Just set it to
switch off at say 4:00am and back on at 4:01am every day.  That way you
should be less likely to have the box "crash".

I think I've mentioned this before, but I use an appliance module on my
digibox. When it crashes, I turn the AM off from the remote and 30 seconds
later it switches back on automatically! I think it's operating the local
control.
