FAST TRACK ANNOUNCEMENT uk.tech.electronic-security
=======================
I have received a request to fast-track the following proposal:
create unmoderated newsgroup uk.tech.electronic-security
This proposal will be carried out after five days from the posting of
this notice (i.e. not before December 20th), unless there are
objections.
Objections should be emailed directly to Control at
<control@xxxxxxx>.
Objections will be resolved by the committee (committee@xxxxxxx)
For further information on the newsgroup creation process in the UK
please look at http://www.usenet.org.uk.
============================================================================
Newsgroup line:
uk.tech.electronic-security Technical issues of electronic
security
Proponent's summary of discussion:
The discussion of this proposed group went generally well with a
turnout of
people showing a keen interest. It was however, brought to my
attention
that I should change one word in the charter. I believe it to be a
minor
change, but a change that will help the group in the future if it is
created. I would like to change the word "being" to
"including".
RATIONALE: uk.tech.electronic-security
This group wants to be formed because there is a demand for uk
technicians
to talk about products and equipment used in this country. At the
moment uk
technicians have to browse through alt.security.alarms which is
approximately 95% foreign equipment and issues.
CHARTER: uk.tech.electronic-security
uk.tech.electronic-security is for discussion of technical matters in
the
field of electronic security in the UK, including intruder alarms,
closed
circuit television and access control systems. The group covers all
aspects
of the industry of electronic security, and focuses on the
manufacturers,
installing and servicing, equipment and technical difficulties found
in the
UK industry. The discussion of overseas equipment and technical
issues not
related to the UK industry is not welcome.
Advertising
Advertising is forbidden.
Binaries & Formatting
Encoded binaries (e.g. pictures, compressed files, etc.) are
forbidden. Such material belongs on a web or FTP site to which
a pointer may be posted. Cryptographic signatures (e.g. PGP)
may be used where authentication is important and should be as
short as possible.
Posts must be readable as plaintext. HTML, RTF and similarly
formatted messages are prohibited. To see how to make your newsreader
comply with this, read <http://www.usenet.org.uk/ukpost.html>.
Warning
Anyone posting contrary to this charter may be reported to their
"postmaster" and/or Service Provider.
END CHARTER
