It seems to be because you get a box, they send it via UPS rather than
US Postal Service...

I haven't had any problems, but then I haven't gone "full on" in
using
them yet either. I inherently mistrust these modules (including the
"proper" UK modules I bought here) because they get warm.

what I have done as the final "last word" mods on my modules is:

1)Replace the MOV with a 275vac part (from RS Components: "M"
don't do
them)

2) Replace R1 with a 1W rated resistor rather than the .25W fitted as
standard. (for no reason other than I don't like the way it heats)

3) Fit a 94 degree Thermal Fuse in the Live feed and place the
"bulb"
of the fuse against the Toko coil. (You have to be >very< careful
when
soldering these guys!!)

I have physically removed the "plug" pins which would plug the
module
into a US wall socket, and have instead fitted a short (five inches or
so) or mains lead. The thermal fuse is connected to the mains wire of
this cable.

let me know how you get on!

Ian.
