Not really, just aesthetic/convenience/security to consider.

There's no advantage of having it in view (the CPU box is just
functional, it's got no controls on it etc etc).  I have mine in a
location which has good access to wiring throughout the house, which
saves a lot of effort when running cables.  I would say "don't put it
under the stairs", as, in most houses, that's one of the hardest
places to get cables to (stairs overhead, corridor on one side, often
a room or external wall on the other...)

Security- if someone goes at it with a big hammer, the outside
sounder should still sound, but I'd personally rather not invite an
attack on it, for the nuisance value of sorting out the damage!

It's worth having the keypad somewhere accessible if you are planning
to use it often (I tend to use the phone more).
