I noticed yesterday that I'd missed the connection between 2 and 6 on
the timer chip. To my inexperienced eye, that wasn't obvious on the
circuit diagram. Connecting that didn't seem to help, but I then
totally re-built the circuit on another plugboard, and presto! Still
don't know what was wrong!

Enough waffle. I have two problems.

The first is more important. The YH70 emitter I bought from M*****n
seems to project a VERY narrow cone. My equipment is about 5 metres
from the transmitter and spread across a cabinet about 1.3m wide. I
have to be very precise with the orientation of the emitter to cover
them all. Can anybody recommend a good emitter with a wider cone?
The CY84 and CY88 from aforementioned retailer look good, but I'd
avoided these because Graham had problems with the CY88. Was there
any further news on that?

Secondly, it won't control my IR7243 X10 controller. Does that
receive on a different modulation frequency?

Nigel, if you've got a suggested tripad layout, that would be cool
:-).

Thanks again to all, especially Nigel and Keith for advice and TSOP's
and Graham for being a pioneer!

Regards

Nick
