Ian,

I use Proteus from http://www.labcenter.co.uk

entry level professional version is ?295 but there is a sharewhere version
that is useable for free and after paying the registration fee ( about ?30)
it removes the nag screen everytime you print or save.

The main limitations of the shareware version are that the schematic and
PCB packages are separate programs whereas in the Pro version you can send
a netlist from ISIS (schematic) to ARES (PCB layout). The main reason for
me upgrading to the Pro version was that the shareware wont output Gerber
files which is essential if you are having a board professionally made.

Having said that, if you use the shareware version you can create your own
layouts and then send them to someone who uses the full package. They open
the files and select Output Gerber and send the Gerber files back to you.

It is an excellent package although there are several others around.

I'm well pleased with it.

Keith

I'm after an easy to use (Windows interface rather than DOS) package to
let me quickly enter a schematic and then produce artwork for double
sided PCBs. Recommendations? Needs to be affordable by a home user.
