Hi Keith,

Primoz has kindly converted it to PDF for me, which would be much better
for
posting to the site. The PDF is attached.

Feel free to post it to your site if you feel it's worthy. - There's
nothing
particularly original or clever in the design, just my imagination ambling
into questioning why we tend to send all these different types of data
around seperately (IR, Speech, music, etc.) Each one (usually) requiring
it's own dedicated cable, often a particular type of cable, leading to
great
bundles of different cable types being pulled all over the place!

I just thought it made sense NOT to send all these signals around in their
native formats, but rather to generate them where they're needed - this
seems to me that it would offer several advantages:

None of that rats nest of cables required,
No signal quality loss due to transmission over significant distances,
No interference picked up during transmission through a cable,
Much less dedicated (or rather "specialist") hardware required -
just
standard PC components - no need for multi-zone amplifiers, IR repeaters,
speaker switching systems, and so on...

All you then need is a simple (ish) and cheap (ish) PC at each location,
connected via a single LAN cable.

Cheers.

Paul G.
