You are correct, blobs are joins, T junctions are also joins and yes, the
bottom left is complicated ! Remember link from pin 8 to 12V is required
and
D1 (visible LED) connects to 0V not 12V (make sure it is correctly oriented
as well). Good luck, I am just starting soldering now.
