Bear in mind that it's possible to disable line cut detection, so you can
disconnect comfort from the line without it getting upset.  I used that
initially, before I had Comfort connected before all the other phones.

I'd be interested in the result of your tests, I've had no success in
getting a 'homebrew' CLID box to work reliably, and the problems sound
similar.  However, my DECT phone and BT CLID unit both work fine, I have
had '-----------' a couple of times on the BT box though, so I assumed it
wasn't Comfort that was causing problems.
