Back at work after a week's training and a week's leave (lots of DIY
activity).

My there are a lot of messages to go through...  I'll post on the East
Anglia HA meet later.

I believe something like >50mm of separation is in order, in the absence
of
a physical barrier (conduit).

Dual gang metal boxes have a removable plate dividing the box - this (I am
told) provides suitable separation.  Provided you use separate conduit for
mains and LV I cannot see any reason why you shouldn't be OK.  Obviously
you
must leave the dividing plate in place - and make sure the box itself is
earthed just to be safe.
