But we all understand Windows enough to justify that fear :-)

IMO, I trust Linux firewalls more than NT ones, purely and simply because
they are open source, any bugs that are found, are fixed quickly, and
patches made available. The authors don't spend weeks dithering and denying
it exists, and don't try to make axcuses as to why it happened (because
quite frankly, no ones cares)

To keep this mail on topic, there has been a little Firewall discussion
recently on #ukha, mainly about LRP
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxrouter/)
it's a router/firewall that
sits on a single floppy, so you can use your old 486 for something other
than a doorstop, you can boot your existing machine off it, without ruining
whatever OS you already have.
