I advocate using a different housecode for each room in the house - all
modules and controllers in that room use the "roomcode", thus
local
controllers only directly control modules in the same room.

You can still control remote rooms by abstracting a subset of each rooms'
codes (with a total possible 64* X10 codes per room, you're unlikely to run
out...) to different codes using Homeseer (or Activehome - spit).

* Not including "all units...." etc.
