I use an 8 port ISA card from ByteRunner.  All 8 ports share IRQ 9.  That
card, combined with the 2 serial ports on the motherboard, gives me 10
serial ports on my server.  I usually have 5 or 6 in use.  This is on a
Win95 pc.
