That's only needed if you want to detect when the light is drawing current,
it's made much simpler if you just want to check when the switch is on...
ie a voltage sensor instead of current sensor.

Can you change the number of coils of wire in the sensor? If so, and you
can reduce the number of coils, it would be less sensitive and might manage
the difference between standby and on. If you can't change the coils, it
might be possible to put less current through the middle but try the easy
stuff first...
