I've only just started playing with them so can't say much. However, when I
was looking, they seemed to run faster, have more memory and provide more
on-board facilities than other alternatives. The prices may be a little
higher, but the BX-24 doesn't require any additional circuitry to run it.
There's also an active eGroup for the BasicX range - BasicX@xxxxxxx
>From memory, the key features of the BX24 that attracted me are:
Doddle to program for, having an easy VB like compiler, and high level APIs
Built in support for standard RS232 comms with a PC
Support for an additional RS232 port
One-wire bus interface and API support
Stacks of on board memory (relatively)
Claimed support for X10, but no documentation on how this works
Built in A/D convertor
The BX-01 lacks some of the bits, like one-wire and the A/D convertor, but
does support easy expanded RAM, and more importantly, has an API and
hardware for networking to other BX-01s via RS485.
