Charles,

You are right... but so is Keith. It all depends on your frame of
reference.

Let's look at it from an information-theoretic point of view:

You are regarding X-10 signals as an information stream. The information
stream is presented on a carrier (a 240v 50Hz mains line). The surge
protector is essentially interfering with the carrier in such a way as to
destroy the coherence of the information stream in such a way that the
information customers (the X-10 devices) are no longer able to interpret
it.
>From that point of view, you are correct - the surge protector is
interfering with your signal.

Keith is looking at things from a power-transmission point of view. The
X-10
standard works by imposing a modulation (interference) onto the mains line.
The surge protector is doing what it was intended to do, and trying to
restore the mains line to a smoothed power rail. From that point of view,
Keth is correct - the surge protector is removing interference from the
line.

This is just a matter of semantics, though. Both of you agree - surge
protectors can stuff up X-10.

Regards,

Mark

Ok I may be wrong but personal experience and trial and error gives me
reason
to believe that I am not wrong.

BTW: Did you buy that new car yet?
If not, check this site out.
They're called CarsDirect.com and it's a pretty sweet way to buy a car.
