I got one of the BTC (5113RF) ones from LetsAutomate. I'll have a go at
leaning some IR codes into the Pronto this evening if I get a chance.

Subject: [ukha_d] IR keyboard

Chaps,

A couple of things...

I went looking for a replacement IR keyboard at the weekend - I wanted one
with the additional "multimedia" keys along the top.. I went out
to Thurrock
Lakeside, with the following results:

PC-World superstore - NO IR keyboards
Maplins superstore - NO IR keyboards
Tempo Megastore - NO IR keyboards
Curry's superstore - NO IR keyboards
Comet superstore - ONE IR keyboard! (I'd almost given up by now!)

Oh, and not to forget the web search of Simply Computers and DABS before I
left, both of which list NO IR keyboards in their online catalogues...

The point of this rambling is though... In Comet the IR keyboard in
question
(Digital Edge airboard), was on the display at £59.99, the sales assistant
told me they are ceasing to sell them, so once current stock has gone,
there's no more to come. BUT, when I got to the checkout, the PFY only
charged me £12.95!!! - Obviously I didn't query this, or argue with the
PFY,
but my till receipt does show the correct item description, so it's not
like
he mis-keyed the item code or anything... If anyone's interested in an IR
keyboard, it might be worth your while trying to track down one of these...

Secondly, my question is does anybody already have one of these (or any
other) IR keyboard, and any experience of learning the codes into a Pronto?
- I ask, because I have now had two different IR keyboards, and the devils
own job trying to get reliable codes into Pronto.

1) I do not seem to be able to learn any SHIFT, CTRL or ALT key
combinations, - only single-key keypresses seem to learn.

2) Even single key presses offer varying results, if I look at the raw data
of a learned code, often the length is wildly different, as though I had
captured a repeating key?? - I tried to always press & release the
keyboard
key for a consistent duration when learning....

I looked on Remote Central for a code file for one of these, but I've not
been able to identify one. Does anyone have any ideas where I might get a
Pronto CCF for this keyboard, or alternatively, any suggestions about how I
can improve the reliability of the learning process?

Are there any utilities which make it easy (easier!) to work with the raw
IR
data, which I suppose "should" remove the learning problems, and
make it
possible to guarantee exact codes?

Cheers!

Paul G.
