I'm about to place my first order for a few X10 bits and pieces.
To start with I'm going to use a CM12U to control it, but I'll probably
use HomeSeer Lite instead of the ActiveHome software.

Part of the Wife approval for this comes from switching the downstairs
toilet light on automatically. Our three year old can do all the
toilet functions herself, but cannot reach the light switch (yes we
have a light switch and not a pullcord :-(). There are no windows in
this room so if the room is occupied the light (and the extractor) need
to be on, no question.

I'd like to do it intelligently so that if movement is detected after
the initial activation the timer is reset, rather than using one of
those add on PIR's you can get for the lights outside (which in my
experience only count from the first movement). I'd also like to fade
the light instead of cutting it so that you've got time to start waving
your arms in the air before getting plunged into darkness!

Basically I'm looking for some pointers on the PIR, 40 quid for a
battery operated X10 PIR seems a bit steep to me, but there are a few
other questions as well.

Could I use a burglar alarm style PIR in conjunction with a Universal
module? Can I get one of these on 240V or am I going to need a 12v
supply to it?

Can I get a simple add on PIR that switches the light on without X10
but will also reset the timer if subsequent movement is detected, and
moreover can I get one to fade the light? This is probably ideal
because it seems less prone to failure and the wife doesn't need to
know that it could have been done without the rest of the kit!

Do I still want a manual switch?

When is HomeSeer Lite available? I remember Mark mentioned a while
back, but I can't see it on the Keware web site.

Any other comments/suggestions.

Nick
