I have fond memories of Bletchly Park having done 5 or 6 training courses
there in the Late 70's /Early 80's. Although it wasnt too much fun being
thrown in the lake one night !!!

I would like to back there one day and have a good look round.

I remember being told not to visit certain pubs in the area because if the
locals found out you worked for BT you would most likely get a car starting
handle wrapped round your head!!

We did get chased down the high street once by a gang of Punks !!!

I've been in Milton Keynes all day today, at a demonstration of the dsl
"modems" BT would be using when it's launched over here. That was
what I
was
led to beleive anyway.

The demo was at Bletchley Park, or Station X as you might know it better.
The demo turned out to be from Polaris (www.polaris-tel.co.uk) of their new
home control system. It turned out to be based on the Dallas MicroLAN
technology, and I was very dissapointed, after expecting to see some DSL
stuff. To be fair though it wasn't the company that told me it was DSL :-)

After the demo, we got a tour of the facilities there, conducted by none
other than Tony Sale, the ex MI5 agent who rescued the Manor from the
developers. The tour was fantastic, the highlight being
"Colossus", the
first "programmable computer". The tour was fantastic, it was a
pity we
only
had the condensed 1 hour version.
