In general, I wouldn't regard a degree as any sign of technical
competence,=

so that's not really an issue, actually I know a number of electrical or=20
electronic engineers who I wouldn't trust to wire a plug unaided (and

not referring to colleagues, lest you should take the wrong message from

email address!). There's a useful checklist floating round with questions=

like "have you ever repaired a =A310 radio" and "do you know
where the lid =

your PC is" which is a fairly good guide to pick out the 'real'
engineers :=

Basically, as long as you have at some time broken something while
trying=20
to figure out how it works, or how to fix it, you're on the right track,=20
and that probably includes software...
