I have a few iButtons and a Blue Dot receptor and I ordered a DS1820
temperature chip from RS (http://rswww.com). I soldered the DS1820 to a
piece of wire which runs from my HA PC to the living room. I downloaded VB
code from ftp.dalsemi.com, tweaked it a little and now have a screen
showing
the living room temperature. I plan to extend it outside and to other
rooms.
I may have a look at the weather station next year but I don't really have
anywhere open enough to place it. Jon Whiten (on this list) is the man for
weather stations and Dallas Semi stuff
(http://www.whiten.co.uk/weather.html)

I downloaded VB code and an OCX from
http://www.shrinkwrapvb.com/vbctrls.htm,
did some more tweaking and now have
a video image on the same screen :-).
The HA PC is linked to the TV via a S-Video cable so that whenever the
phone
rings or doorbell goes I flick a switch on the remote, see who it is and
either hide or get the beer out :-)

CallerID resources @ http://www.ainslie.org.uk/callerid.htm

On the programming side I use Visual Studio 6

Hope this helps,

Michael
