Also bear in mind that I had real problems trying to dim a 300W
uplighter
using a 300W plug in lamp module. The lamp module seemed to overheat and
start sending spurious X10 noise, that jammed all other units.

You need to use one of the DIN rail X10 dimmers for a 300W lamp.
