56k/sec isnt enough. you need 128 as a starting point. VBR also save space.

I have replace my HI-Fi with a pc dedicated to MP3. It has 2,500 tracks on
it. The sound quality is as good as my 1,500 pound HI-FI at 1980 or
certainly with my hearing i cant tell any diffrence.

Before anyone rants about MP3 killing music etc. I own all the CD's
