Splutter! I don't think I could go for that... at $2000 it'd have to have
more than the features I need, not just be close! Maybe it's just the
residual Scottish blood in my system... :-)

Maybe a lot of that is because it does video switching too? And remote
control of bass, treble etc seems a bit OTT for my liking- that's
definitely a 'set and forget' thing.

On the other hand, I'm surprised that something which involves line level
signals in an installation doesn't use balanced/differential signals- it's
just single ended on a phono- if you're trying to make life easier for
installers, I'd have thought that balanced audio would be a bigger time
saver (because it saves thinking!) than being able to set up tone controls
remotely (which just needs two people, one to ask the other one to adjust
the controls!)

I guess that, like my burglar alarm, I'll plan on building my own, until
someone else gets in there and does it 'right' (where 'right' means 'just
how I'd like it'), like Comfort... <g>

For now, I'm thinking along the lines of 8 stereo in's, 4 stereo out's,
manual setting of source levels (cos that realistically doesn't change),
initally at least no tone controls, IR control of output levels, balanced
inputs and outputs. Not sure whether I'd go for video switching too- I'd
not thought of it, but I suppose it's a good idea really...

Nigel
