Dunno about their prices, but one of the reasons I was interested was that=
=20
the Farnell ones prices seem very reasonable (they also sell a little=20
RS-232 driver board)

The ones I am looking at are 16 characters, 1 line, 9mm or 12.5mm
character=

height (the matrix-orbital ones are smaller, I reckon 9mm is adequate,
it's=
=20
similar to the display size on my Denon receiver. Manufacturer is=20
Noritake-Itron

=A330.91 +VAT for 9mm 481-671
=A333.64 +VAT for 12.5mm 942-420

The message controller they sell costs =A321.84 +VAT, but I'm not yet sure=
=20
whether it does anything intelligent, or just basic interfacing. Its
order=
=20
code is 249-531

If you don't have a Farnell catalogue, there might be details on their=20
website, which I think is at http://www.farnell.com

Basically about twice the price of a similar 'hitachi-compatible'
backlit=20
LCD, but it looks more at home in a hi-fi, and is probably clearer to read=
=20
from a distance.

I'm certainly hoping to... some time!
