In a front door scenario, I guess fixed focal length is a "good"
thing... -
people at the door are always a fixed distance from the camera, and I have
no wish to see cars/pedestrians going past my front gate....

I currently have a mono camera with built-in IR illumination, but I now

good visible light illumination in the cameras viewing area, courtesy of a
couple of downlighters built in to a false ceiling above the porch,
contolled by X10 and a PIR (and a Comfort response).
