Keware Technologies News
++++++++++++++++++++++++

Many users have asked for the ability of HomeSeer to download events into
the CM11A X10 interface. We have been working with HAWizard software to
incorporate their CM11A download control into HomeSeer. This work is almost
complete. We have posted a beta version of HomeSeer on the Keware beta page
for users to download and try out. The latest version is 1.4.7 and it
includes the ability to download your events to the CM11A.

If you leave your computer running, this is still a useful feature. If you
have any events that are triggered by X10 command, you can download these
events to the CM11A and get quicker response from devices like motion
sensors. HomeSeer will even re-download your events automatically if they
have conditions applied to them and the conditions change (like daytime or
nightime)

Future HomeSeer features
________________________

Work on HomeSeer never stops! Below is a list of what we are working on now
and what features and products you will be seeing in the near future.

1) MP3 support. It is planned to add support for the Microsoft Media
player.
This will allow you to play audio files as an action to an event. The media
player will also be accessable via the scripting interface as it is not
scriptable by itself. Time frame for this feature is Aug.

2) HomeSeer lite. We are considering offering a lite version of HomeSeer
that would offer all of the features of X10's ActiveHome software
(including
download to CM11A support). It seems there are many who don't really want
VR
or scripting, or even the web access. The exact feature set has not been
determined but the price will be $19.95. Users who buy the lite version
will
be able to upgrade to the full version at a reduced price. This software
should be available withing the next 4 weeks.

3) TAPI support. I know many are waiting for this, and I apologize for the
delay. This will be offered in two pieces:

A) A software piece will be available as a free add-on for HomeSeer. This
will allow voice control of HS from a remote phone. It will include voice
mail, callerid, forward voicemail to email, access to HS voice commands,
and
much more. Scripting is supported so custom IVR systems can be written.

B) A hardware piece. The hardware is a small box that is essentially an
intelligent phone switch. It sits between your incoming phone line, your
computer, and your local handsets in your home. The main purpose of the
device is to allow you to talk to your computer using any local handset in
your home and not require any specialized modem. Its features are:

*1) Pick up any local handset, press #, the computer will answer on the
first ring, you can then converse with it. The software will allow you
access to your Outlook contacts, HS voice commands, and scripts could be
written to access the web. Get stock quotes, news, weather, etc. There are
many startup companies doing this type of thing on a subscription basis.
You
can do it for free!

*2) Call any number in your address book: Press #, say "call
mom", the box
handles all switching while the computer dials, and connects you to an
outside line.

*3) Local phones work normally. Pick a phone and a normal dialtone is
heard.
The box will not interfere with normal operation of your phones.

*4) If the computer is handling an incoming call, all local handsets get a
busy signal indicating the line is active.

*5) Any TAPI compatible modem should work with the hardware and software,
however, the modem must support distinctive ringing to allow the computer
to
answer remote and local calls using different ring counts (ie: 1 ring for
inside calls and 4 rings for outside calls). The following modems have been
tested:

Creative D5601 (ISA bus)
3COM 5690 (PCI bus)

The phone interface hardware is expected to be available in July. Pricing
is
not firm yet but is expected to be around $149.00.
