Hi All,
Just to answer a couple of questions....
AV signals travel in one direction eg VCR to TV
IR data travels the other way TV to VCR.
Pricing.....still to be decided when I work out the best buying options for
the parts. The more I can order at once the cheaper they become.
Options....ideas considered at the moment are....
1. Bare PCB, bag of bits & instructions and possibly plastic box
(undrilled)
2. Assembled PCB, undrilled box & instruction
3. Fully assembled and tested unit ready for plug and play.
Obviously option 1 will be the cheapest but require most work from the end
user with option 3 being the most expensive but available to those unable
to construct for themselves.
Assembly time....how long is a piece of string?
I could fit all the components into a blank board 15 minutes as a 1 off but
if I was making 10 I would go into production line mode and complete
various stages on each one eg fit all resistors to all boards then the
capacitors etc. Like that I could probably do all 10 in about 90 minutes.
Drilling boxes is another matter.....doing the first one takes ages, the
second one less time and you gradually get quicker the more you make.
Payment....Credit cards of any kind arent an option at this time but
cheques will be fine.
If the kits/units end up being sold through a retailer then credit cards
would be possible but obviously the items would then have to cost slightly
more due to the retailers cut.
Full details will be posted soon.
This last year has been pretty hectic and the biggest mistake I have made
is in trying to launch a range of items, all of which are close to being
ready but none totally finished. I am now doing what I should have done
from the start. Get the first item launched then add to the range. Still,
if I was good as a businessman I wouldnt be as techie as I am ;-))
Keep you all posted
