Take a look at http://lcdproc.omnipotent.net/   While it's rather Linux biased, you should be able track down sources and drivers with ease...

I have at home 8 spare 20x4 LCD displays with serial (RS-232, 9k6, 8N1)
interface boards. Displays are without backlighting.

I'm willing to sell them to list members and price would be GBP 20.00 + p&p.

Since I made interface boards, many changes in communication
parameters, command set and responses are possible, if needed...
