LM12U help needed

My bizarre X10 fault may have re-occured last night after a long
absence.

A bit of experimentation suggests that I may be overloading a lamp
module in a way that causes it send interference out onto the power
ring. Laser's catalogue for the LM12U suggest that the module is rated
for lights up to 300W. A brochure I had from ISCAM suggested only 250W.
I'm running a 300W halogen uplighter off one.

I'm guessing it's an overloading problem from the following symptoms:

The lamp is normally run at ~100-75% power or 25% brightness and we have
no problems. Last night it was running at 50% brightness for most of the
night. Previous postings suggested that most strain is placed on a
dimmer when run at 50%??

Switching the module off restored control to my other X10 appliance
module. Re-connecting it prevents control (or at least some commands -
after a while A2 ON and ALL UNITS OFF worked again; are ON and ALL OFF
commands less susceptible to noise?)

Connecting the suspect module to a standard 60W bulb didn't cause any
problems.

I'm thinking of ordering a DIN rail dimmer because these are rated at up
to 700W. Presumably these are OK for wiring a couple of wires in from a
three pin plug, then wiring the lamp to the unit? Any other ideas...

Thanks,

Ray Barnett.
