My equipment support has to have a high "WAF" (Wife Acceptance
Factor),
hence the PC lives on an antique leather-topped desk, and the hi-fi on a
Soundstyle 100 "Special edition blue marble" rack to match the
Shearne Amps.

As a serious point, however, I would suggest you abandon castors in favour
of spikes. If you have carpet that you don't want to spike, then the old
student trick of placing a 2p piece under each spike.

Whilst looking around for some potential suppliers of "decent" AV
furniture,
(modular or custom made, with cable mgmt, etc.), I happened upon this site
which seems to specialise in various AV product areas, including projection
equipment, and touch-panel control systems etc. It interested me for a
while, so I assumed it "might" be of interest to some of you
guys. Of
particular interest was the "bargains" page.

BTW, does anyone have any recommendations regarding AV furniture? - I've
been making do for the past couple of years with a cheap-n-cheerful unit,
which is now beginning to groan under the strain! I am looking for high
quality, purpose designed AV furniture to house all my current and proposed
AV kit, which I reckon will be at least:

VCR x 1
Minidisc unit x 1
Home Cinema amplifier x 1 (which will be a BIG heavy beast!)
Satellite receiver x 1
External D2/MAC decoder x 1
33" television x 1 (for now)
42" (or bigger) widescreen television (next year)
Audio cassette deck x 1
Standard desktop-size ATX format PC case x 1 (and should provide space for
the wireless keyboard to live when not in use)
And possibly either or both of DVD drive x 1 and/or CD player x 1
(although
I intend to place the functionality of both these units in the PC)

Plus all the associated cabling for that lot!!

So I will DEFINITELY want something which provides cable management
features, has lots of room for black boxes (preferably wide enough for two
"stacks"), should be of top quality construction, on sturdy
castors, and be
very strong!! - I would consider commissioning a custom-designed unit if I
cannot find anything suitable "off-the-peg"

Any links to suppliers websites would be welcomed!

TIA

Paul Gordon
