If it was simple notifications you want to send, and you happen to have
a PC running constantly, then there is one possible solution:

Send status information from Comfort to the PC via X10 (or the new
interface).
Write a dead simple programme in VB to listen for the X10 message and
then send either an SMS directly (not sure how easy SMS software would
make this), or send an email. http://www.genie.co.uk will give you a
free email address for your phone.

Using the email option may be more useful because you can send the
message to more devices: office email, pagers etc...
