I have also been looking into this.

Another option to Swish is from Visiontech - they sell a  Drapery
controller unit which is a type of pully controlled by a motor, therefore
it can work with any type of PULL curtains.  Another feature is you can use
it with Bay and Straight windows.

They actually sell it as part of a  curtain control kit (CD500). The kit
comprises 3 parts - the Drapery Controller, X10 controller and X10
appliance module. However the Drapery Controller is around ?90 by itself
and I don't think it needs special track.

I have not yet tried it ......

Does anyone have any experience or advice regarding automating a bedroom
curtain?

It's quite a simple curtain (not a bay window) but I'd like to be able
to tie it into Comfort, probably by X10 (no possibility of running a
wire from Comfort to the bedroom now!)
