Its mains Nigel. The sparks have used "twin red" to each switch.
 So far
the hall lights are the only ones effected (out of around 35 circuits).
The
hall light switch is also sharing a single faceplate with 4 other circuits
so there are 5 circuits in total running down this conduit which adds to
the
problem.

EXACTLY! It appears that the sparks have solved the hall lights already (I
had them running for 2.5 hours last night without problem) although I have
not been speaking to them yet to find out what they did. As you point out,
the thing that has annoyed me is that these "recommendations" are
not
published by X10 in the box!

The cables runs vary from a few metres to around 25 metres. Some of the
longer ones are to the garage and these have florescent fittings on
appliance modules so the problem doesn't apply.

Don't get me wrong, it seems that there is only 1 circuit that was effect
(touch wood) but I am slightly pissed off (can you tell) that this info
came
AFTER the whole house was wired, walls plastered and floors down.

As if I'm not S T R E S S E D enough with moving house this Friday!!!!!

:-)
