Subject: [HOMEVIS] HomeVision version 2.7 now available
HomeVision version 2.7 has now been released. The new features are
summarized at the end of this message. This upgrade consists of new PC
software and a new PROM. You can download the PC software from our web
site, but it REQUIRES the 2.7 PROM to run properly.
All registered HomeVision users are entitled to one free upgrade. If you
would like to receive this upgrade, just let us know and we'll send it
right
out.
If you haven't yet registered with us and would like to do so now, please
send the following information:
- Name
- Address
- Where you purchased HomeVision
- HomeVision serial number
If you've already received a free upgrade, this new upgrade will cost $15.
If you would like to receive it, just let us know and acknowledge that
you're willing to pay the $15. We'll send the upgrade out immediately and
include payment information with it.
NOTE TO PREVIOUS 2.7 BETA TESTERS: Since you already have a 2.7 PROM, you
may use the new software on our web site. However, you should note that
we've added several features recently that require the latest PROM. If you
want to use these new features, let us know and we'll send you a new PROM
(no charge). You can determine which features your current Beta PROM
supports by reading the "NewInfo" file that we sent you with it.
Any
features not listed there, but listed in the new "NewInfo" file
require the
new PROM.

VERSION 2.7 CHANGES
1. Supports the following new HomeVision accessories:
· HomeVision-Serial
· HomeVision-Phone/Serial
· HomeVision-Phone/CID
2. Allows any X-10 command in your schedule to use a variable value to
specify the X-10 address (instead of entering a "fixed" X-10
address).
3. Adds two other X-10 commands to perform a "direct to level"
command based
upon a variable value and to put the current level into a variable.
4. Adds X-10 commands to support the "scene" capability of newer
Leviton
devices like the 6343.
5. Adds commands to put a timer value into variables and to load a timer
with values from variables.
6. Adds commands to multiply or divide a variable by another variable or a
constant.
7. Adds an If-Then condition to check the phone number of a caller (as
determined by caller ID).
8. Adds support for the "Auto Send" feature of the newer RCS
TX15B
thermostats.
9. Adds commands to change the clock time from within a schedule.
10. Allows the user to specify a PC directory where WAV files will be
located. Previously, any WAV files you wanted HomeVision to play had to be
in the HomeVision directory.
11. Adds commands to immediately read input ports B and C. HomeVision
normally reads the input ports periodically, but never while it's executing
any commands in your schedule (in other words, the input ports will never
change state while running a macro, scheduled event, etc.). This approach
works best in most applications. Occasionally, however, a user may need to
detect a change of state during a macro or other actions. This new command
will enable the user to read the inputs at any time. Note that this
command
only works for input ports B and C. It will not work with expansion board
inputs.
12. Adds ability to "simulate" infrared keypresses within a
schedule to
control the video menu system. The video menu system is normally
controlled
by a user pressing buttons on an IR remote. Sometimes, however, it can be
useful to have other ways to control the menu system. These new commands
will cause HomeVision to respond just as if a user had actually pressed the
corresponding button on a remote.
13. Adds a "text storage buffer". This storage area can hold up
to 256
characters of data. You can extract data from received serial messages and
put it into the storage area. You can then display any portion of the text
storage area in custom video screens.
14. Adds ability for the controller to automatically report state changes
to
the PC. This is designed for use with future PC software that needs to
keep
up-to-date with controller status. It can automatically report changes of
X-10 devices, input ports, output ports, flags, variables, analog inputs,
and digital temperature sensors. If you are developing software to
interface to HomeVision that needs this capability, contact us to obtain
the
documentation.
